Dear Friends,
It's fast approaching... just around the corner... coming soon to a school near you... the entire month of
February... it's I LOVE TO READ AND WRITE MONTH! For years, teachers in Vermont have been holding I
love to read and Write celebrations during the month of February (many schools extend it into the
first week of March to include the birthday of Dr. Seuss on March 2nd). To help you plan ideas for
your school's celebration, this issue of the Vermont Council on Reading journal includes the I Love
to Read and Write booklet to help you get your celebration started. This collection includes ideas
that can be done within a classroom or in collaboration with the entire school or community. There
is also a "On this Day in History" list included that may spark an idea of your own.
The Vermont Council on Reading Journal is always looking for submissions, so if your school does
anything interesting, fun or effective for I LOVE TO READ AND WRITE MONTH, please feel free to
submit an article and pictures to the VCR Journal Editor.
